"Germany needs the strength of every single man for the development of his national and economic freedom, therefore, no German has the right to impair his strength through alcohol abuse or drugs. Such action is detrimental not only to himself, but to his family, and above all, to his people." - Heinrich Himmler, 1938

More useful in the example of hitler - was the mistaken view
that no person should be impaired/affected in any way by alcohol or
drugs as we need all to be productive.  Every living thing needs maintenance.
Plants need water and day and night. Animals need the same plus time to play.
People need breaks - meditation, TV, drugs. None of those things interfere with
productivity - when moderation is in play.
Much work is done while watching TV, listening to the radio, or under
one "drug" or another - from coffee to heroin - in moderate use most remain
productive.

Sometimes depression and despair need a shot in the arm - the person needs
their pleasure centers stimulated when wanted - in moderation - to get them in
the very mood to do excellent work.
