GOOD NEWS! :music: music to my ears ... the Canadian senate has blocked this bill for the time being ... as reported by those right wing Conservatives (they're pissed about this):

Quote
This week in the Senate, by a 38-33 vote, Liberal senators voted to delay crucial Conservative legislation (Bill C-15) that would crack down on drug crime and on the criminal gangs that profit from illegal drugs.
Our government’s law would protect Canadians by imposing mandatory minimum penalties on producers, dealers and gangs that sell and produce illegal drugs.
The same group of Liberal senators also voted to block a vital law that would crack down on auto theft (Bill C-26).
Despite their statements on the record that seem to call for a stronger anti-crime agenda, Michael Ignatieff and his party continue to use the Senate to oppose and obstruct the tough new laws that we need to keep our streets and communities safe.
At a time when Canadians are increasingly anxious and fearful over criminality in the community, Ignatieff is letting Liberal senators run counter to his own members in the House by obstructing important measures that would take criminals off our streets.
Our Conservative government’s stand on cracking down on crime is clear. We stand against gangs who exploit our most vulnerable citizens, including our youth, and we stand up for the safety and security of all Canadians.

And tomorrow is Cannabis Day in Canada!  Thank god for some sanity in the world! :sun: :music:

Well, it's not law yet and even if the senate doesn't outright reject it ... perhaps it will get delayed for a long time, long enough for a change of government and some more open intelligent debate.  Harper is insane.  I just read he belongs to the same religious sect as that notorious Ted Haggard ... the U.S. preacher that got caught with meth and lied about his affairs a with male prostitute.  Sick world.  Praying for sanity to win this. :bowing:

A dark day for Canada indeed.
So many people I know will be made criminals because of their coca plants, and a few colorful flowers.
I thought we were beyond this.

This is a scary time to be a Canadian right now.  We stand at the brink of having our laws changed so that growing as few as 5 plants, will give you mandatory jail time, no if ands or buts.

If this  bill c-15 is approved by our senate, it will send us right back to the dark ages here in Canada in terms of basic human rights.

Check out the  the details here...

Please pray our Senate here in Canada has enough common sense to reject this insanity proposed by our government.
